BEIJING, Aug 5 — War romance epic “Lady of the Dynasty” has just been released in China minus an erotic scene that sees Fan Bingbing and Leon Lai indulging in a little sexual horseplay — literally.

The New Paper reported yesterday that the scene was cut after leaked screenshots went viral showing the Chinese actress and Hong Kong actor’s characters getting it on while straddling a horse.

Although the mind boggles as to the logistics involved in the first place, Chinese online users were far more concerned about the horse’s well being, saying the duo’s combined weight might have injured the animal.

Others just called the scene distasteful.

The newspaper quoted the film’s director, Shi Qing, as telling People.cn: “The leaked screenshots of the sex scene that went viral on the Internet made me realise that I had some regrets with regards to some of the technicalities of the scene. So I cut it to make the movie more ideal.”

Meanwhile, China Topix reported that Fan had also defended the movie.

The 31-year-old actress was quoted as saying, “The (sex on a horse) scene speaks of humanity, love, life, and death.

“It’s a depiction of love and tension between people through a new perspective.”

When contacted, Taiwanese actor Wu Chun, who also stars in the film, told TNP, “I still haven’t had the chance to watch the entire movie.

“Our director has a very artistic personality and that scene (that caused an uproar) was indeed very challenging.

“No one has done it before.

“I did see some clips of the movie last week.

“I think it’s beautifully shot.”
