LOS ANGELES, April 7 — The biblical saga headlined by Russell Crowe was displaced by Marvel’s superhero flick, the top earner at the worldwide box office for the weekend ending April 6, according to Rentrak.

In the US domestic box office, the superhero movie also emerged on top, with revenues of US$96.2 million.

Bumped into second place, Darren Aronofsky’s feature grossed US$62.6 million worldwide and US$17 million in North America. “Noah” is still awaiting release in certain territories.

In third place, Neil Burger’s “Divergent” took in US$24.1 million from theatres worldwide. The young-adult fantasy movie was ahead of “Rio 2” (US$22.2 million) and “Mr Peabody and Sherman” (US$16.5 million). — AFP-Relaxnews
