PETALING JAYA, July 5 — It just keeps getting better as “Nothing Else Matters”!
Fans are in for another treat as Grammy-award metal band Metallica is set to rock Merdeka Stadium on August 21 — their first visit to the country.
This will be part of the tour around the region which includes concerts in South Korea, Japan, China and Singapore.
“We’ve said it before ... with more than 30 years of travelling around the world behind us, there are very few places that we have yet to explore. So it’s rather thrilling for us to be back with yet another first, a stop in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Aug 21 at Merdeka Stadium,” the band said in its official website.
This comes about hardly a month after it was announced another Grammy-award winning band Smashing Pumpkins are set to perform at the Sepang International Kart Circuit on August 17, two days later, another award-winning rock band Linkin Park will perform at the National Stadium, Bukit Jalil.
Metallica last performed in the region 20 years ago at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
The band — consisting frontman James Hetfield, drummer Lars Ulrich, bassist Rob Trujillo and lead guitarist Kirk Hammett — have been rocking the world since 1981 through nine albums including “Master of Puppets” (1986), “Metallica” (1991) and their most recent “Death Magnetic” (2008). Among their famous songs includes “The Unforgiven”, “One”, “Fade to Black”, “Fuel” and “Seek and Destroy”.
