NEW YORK, Oct 7 — The lead characters in “Twilight” are getting switched around in a 10th anniversary commemorative edition entitled “Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined.”
Bella Swan becomes young man Beau, vampire Edward Cullen becomes Edythe, and the lycan Jacob Black becomes Julie in the new twist.
“I thought, ‘What if we switched it around a bit and see how a boy does,’ and, you know, it’s about the same,” author Stephenie Meyer told Good Morning America (via Variety).
The four books in the “Twilight” series became a five-part film franchise, establishing Kristen Stewart as Bella, Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen, and Taylor Lautner as Jacob Black.
Meyer has since penned two more entries to the “Twilight” series, novella “The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner” and an official illustrated guide, as well as alien invasion romance “The Host” which was adapted to film in 2013.
A draft of “Midnight Sun,” a “Twilight” novel from Cullen’s perspective, was leaked online in 2014 but was not included within “Life and Death”; instead, the new twist comes packaged within a 10th anniversary edition of the original story. — AFP-Relaxnews
