KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 27 ― Malaysia is the first country in South East Asia to be chosen as Theme Nation at Tokyo International Book Fair 2014.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said it was in recognition of the nation for achieving the status as Asia’s largest book hub.
“With this recognition, I am confident that we will be able to promote local works in the international arena,” he said on his Facebook page.
The prestigious book fair is scheduled to take place from July 2-5, 2014.
Last year, South Korea was chosen as the Theme Nation.
Malaysia is the ninth country to be given the status since it was established in 1998. ― Bernama
