KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 14 ― Bursa Malaysia maintained its positive momentum at mid-afternoon, gaining 0.42 per cent, lifted by selected counters led by Public Bank, Press Metal and Petronas Gas.
Public Bank gained four sen at RM4.30, Press Metal was nine sen better at RM4.92 and Petronas Gas accumulated 36 sen at RM17.18.
At 3pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) advanced 6.03 points to 1,454.07 from 1,448.04 chalked up at yesterday’s close, after opening 0.84 points better at 1,448.88.
Gainers led losers 485 to 369, while 432 counters were unchanged, 1,058 were untraded, and 37 were suspended.
Turnover stood at 3.10 billion shares worth RM1.75 billion.
Among the heavyweights, Maybank and Petronas Chemicals lost two sen each to RM9.05 and RM7.13, respectively, while Public Bank and CIMB were four sen higher at RM4.30 and RM5.83, respectively.
Of the actives, Sapura Energy was flat at five sen, SMTrack added half-a-sen at 4.5 sen, Minetech gained 2.5 sen at 9.5 sen, Top Glove was two sen higher at 89.5 sen and Sarawak Consolidated improved two sen to 82.5 sen.
On the index board, the FBM Emas Index increased by 52.80 points to 10,766.58, the FBMT 100 Index added 51.51 points to 10,432.61 and the FBM 70 Index rose 107.28 points to 14,337.02, while the FBM Emas Shariah Index gained 53.04 points to 10,868.86.
The FBM ACE Index erased 5.10 points to 5,145.71.
Sector-wise, the Financial Services Index improved by 56.29 points to 16,430.54, the Energy Index accumulated 13.43 points to 802.76 and the Industrial Products and Services Index added 0.74 of-a-point to 171.48.
The Plantation Index was 7.92 points lower at 6,985.65. ― Bernama
