KUALA LUMPUR, June 1 ― Bursa Malaysia continued to be weighed down by selling activities, in tandem with its regional peers at midmorning.

At 11am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) fell by 6.71 points or 0.48 per cent to 1,380.41 from 1,387.12 at yesterday’s close.

The key index opened 3.82 points weaker at 1,383.30 this morning.

The broader market was negative with decliners surpassing advancers 395 to 238, while 343 counters were unchanged, 1,264 untraded and 27 others suspended.

Turnover stood at RM1.09 billion worth RM577.22 million.

Heavyweights Maybank, IHH Healthcare and Hong Leong Bank decreased two sen each to RM8.63, RM5.75, and RM19.34, respectively, Tenaga Nasional and Petronas Chemicals eased eight sen to RM9.43 and RM6.48, respectively, while Public Bank increased two sen to RM3.83.

Among the actives, Synergy House narrowed six sen to 37.0 sen and Tanco lost half-a-sen to 50.5 sen, while Dagang Nexchange was 2.5 sen higher at 44.5 sen, Bahvest Resources edged up two sen to 24.0 sen and Classita was flat at 11.5 sen.

On the index board, the FBM Emas Index went down 54.18 points to 10,188.91, the FBMT 100 Index was 53.38 points weaker at 9,896.13, the FBM Emas Shariah Index declined 85.74 points to 10,520.77, the FBM ACE Index was 22.51 points lower at 4,924.73 and FBM 70 Index shed 94.76 points to 13,562.11.

Sector-wise, the Financial Services Index added 10.26 points to 15,217.00, while the Industrial Products and Services Index eased 0.92 points to 158.19, the Plantation Index slid 21.12 points to 6,579.96, and the Energy Index went down 4.67 points to 804.77. ― Bernama
