KUALA LUMPUR, April 7 — The Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) has appointed Mohd Shamsor Mohd Zain as its new president for the 2023/2024 term.

Mohd Shamsor from UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd took over the position following the passing of MAA’s long-serving president, Datuk Aishah Ahmad in February this year.

In a statement today, MAA said Tan Keng Meng (Tan Chong & Sons Motor Co Sdn Bhd) and Sarly Adle Sarkum (Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd) have resumed their respective posts as vice-presidents, while Low Yuan Lung (Sime Darby Hyundai Sdn Bhd) was also elected as vice-president.

Meanwhile, Arman Mahadi (Daihatsu (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd) was re-elected as the honorary secretary and treasurer.

The association had also re-elected its five council members for the term, namely Derrick Sim (Hap Seng Trucks Distribution Sdn Bhd), David Nah (Isuzu Malaysia Sdn Bhd), Datuk Samson Anand George (Kia Malaysia Sdn Bhd), Hoffen Teh (Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia Sdn Bhd) and Say Teck Ming (Tan Chong Industrial Equipment Sdn Bhd.

It said Syed Muzri Syed Faiz (Jaguar Land Rover (M) Sdn Bhd) was also appointed as a new council member, adding that the appointments were made during the MAA’s 24th Annual General Meeting held on March 17, 2023.

Commenting on his appointment, Mohd Shamsor said the MAA will continue to uphold the strong working relationship with key stakeholders such as government ministries and agencies, as well as the media.

“Together with all MAA members, we will grow this association from strength to strength, for the good of our industry, society and country.

“I look forward to the continued strong support from all MAA members as we contribute to the robust development of the nation’s automotive industry,” he said. — Bernama
