KUALA LUMPUR, March 14 — Bursa Malaysia remained lower at mid-morning, dampened by continuous selling in heavyweight stocks led by financial services as well as industrial products and services, a dealer said.

Petronas Chemicals lost 16 sen to RM6.94 and CIMB trimmed 12 sen to RM5.21, dragging the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) down by a combined 4.26 points.

At 11am, the benchmark index fell 15.26 points to 1,406.57 from Monday’s close of 1,421.83.

The key index opened 4.87 points easier at 1,416.96.

In the broader market, decliners outpaced gainers 541 to 166, while 312 counters were unchanged, 1,228 untraded, and 11 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 1.13 billion units valued at RM666.10 million.

Among Bursa Malaysia heavyweights, Maybank slipped one sen to RM8.43, Public Bank reduced five sen to RM3.96, IHH Healthcare shed six sen to RM5.91, and CelcomDigi went down four sen to RM4.08. TNB was flat at RM9.32.

Among the actives, MY E.G. Services added two sen to 79.5 sen, BSL and Awanbiru shaved one sen to five sen and 46 sen, respectively, E.A. Technique gave up six sen to 23 sen, and Vinvest Capital was flat at 22.5 sen.

On the index board, the FBM Emas Shariah Index narrowed 96.86 points to 10,553.09, the FBM Emas Index shed 104.00 points to 10,271.42, the FBM ACE slid 63.15 points to 5,235.91, the FBMT 100 Index dropped 101.62 points to 9,960.29, and the FBM 70 fell 106.72 points to 13,137.66.

Sector-wise, the Financial Services Index edged down 182.81 points to 15,537.58, the Plantation Index dipped 65.95 points to 6,726.38, the Energy Index gave up 12.64 points to 840.19, and the Industrial Products and Services Index slipped 1.81 points to 170.76. — Bernama
