KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 28 — Bursa Malaysia extended its losses at mid-afternoon following weaker performances across all sectors.

At 3 pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) slipped 11.91 points to 1,462.78 compared with Tuesday’s closing of 1,474.69.

The market bellwether opened 1.14 points lower at 1,473.55.

Market breadth remained weak as losers outpaced gainers 574 to 284, while 371 counters were unchanged, 1,040 untraded and 25 others suspended.

Turnover amounted to 1.8 billion units worth RM1.07 billion.

All heavyweights were in the red except for TM, Genting Malaysia, Genting, Press Metal and Digi.

IHH led losses among them, decreasing 13 sen to RM6.05, CIMB was six sen lower at RM5.59 and both IOI and Tenaga Nasional were nine sen easier at RM3.95 and RM9.15 respectively.

Maybank gave up four sen to RM8.60 and Maxis dropped six sen to RM3.80.

Of the actives, Top Glove shed 3.5 sen to 89 sen, while Berjaya Corp was unchanged at 29.5 sen, and Vinvest gained half-a-sen to 19.5 sen.

Meanwhile, LEAP-market CRG Incorporated Bhd has changed its name to Carlo Rino Group Bhd.

Bursa Malaysia said the consumer products and services company’s shares will be traded and quoted under the new name with effect from Jan 3, 2023.

On the index board, the FBM Emas Index fell 87.07 points to 10,523.81, the FBMT 100 Index went down 85.09 points to 10,236.54, the FBM Emas Shariah Index dropped 99.45 points to 10,744.97, the FBM 70 Index slid 115.41 points to 12,980.47, and the FBM ACE Index shaved off 79.77 points to 5,273.88.

Sector-wise, the Financial Services Index shrank 119.14 points to 16.235.23, the Plantation Index gave up 40.26 points to 6,948.17, the Energy Index was 6.83 points lower at 781.12, while the Industrial Products and Services Index eased 0.16 of-a-point to 180.11. — Bernama
