JOHOR BARU, Dec 21 — The Muslim Friendly System (Sistem Mesra Muslim) to be implemented by Johor government-owned PIJ Halal Ventures Sdn Bhd and Koperasi Penguatkuasa PBT Bhd is expected to provide recognition to owners of premises, products and services towards ensuring consumer confidence.

PIJ Halal Ventures manager Wan Aminudin Aminin Wan Sulaiman said the system is aimed at giving assurance to consumers that all raw materials used have received halal certification from the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) or that is recognised by Jakim, and are Shariah-compliant.

“The system, for example, will record and monitor raw materials used by the premises, product or service and can recognise immediately the raw materials uploaded into the system,” he told reporters after a memorandum signing ceremony between PIJ Halal Ventures and Koperasi Penguatkuasa PBT here today.

If the raw materials purchased are not permitted, the system will inform of the non-conformance right away so that appropriate action will be taken, said Wan Aminudin.

He said the implementation of the system will also facilitate and offer an opportunity for owners of premises, products and services to make preparations in applying for a Jakim certification, which normally requires a thorough and systematic process.

According to Koperasi Penguatkuasa PBT chairman Tun Mohd Izlizam Bahardin, the Muslim-friendly rating system is the maiden step for exposing business operators registered under the local government to the Malaysian halal certification.

Meanwhile, owners of the Hotel Zamburger and Syukor Burger chains have become among the first recipients of the Muslim Friendly System recognition. — Bernama
