KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 15 ― Bursa Malaysia remained lower at mid-afternoon due to profit-taking in selected heavyweights led by telecommunications stocks.
At 3pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) fell 10.76 points to 1,472.41 from yesterday’s closing of 1,483.17.
The index opened 1.39 points lower at 1,481.78.
On the broader market, losers surpassed gainers 487 versus 300, while 390 counters were unchanged, 1,096 untraded and 41 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 1.63 billion units valued at RM948.47 million.
Among the Bursa heavyweights, Maybank eased three sen to RM8.74, Public Bank, CIMB and TNB were all down five sen to RM4.39, RM5.78 and RM9.29, respectively, while Petronas Chemicals lost one sen to RM8.49, and Digi dropped 10 sen to RM3.70.
Among the actives, Advance Synergy gained one sen to 18.5 sen, Infomina advanced 10 sen to RM1.31, PT Resources rose eight sen to 59 sen, Nylex added five sen to 26.5 sen, and AHB was down by one sen to 14 sen.
On the index board, the FBM Emas Index contracted 65.32 points to 10,587.39, the FBMT 100 Index shed 68.78 points to 10,287.84, the FBM Emas Shariah Index weakened 68.58 points to 10,714.33, the FBM 70 Index slipped 60.90 points to 12,969.63, and the FBM ACE Index reduced 18.91 points to 5,492.08.
Sector-wise, the Financial Services Index was 84.81 points lower at 16,584.76, the Plantation Index lost 21.61 points to 6,719.28, the Industrial Products and Services Index eased 0.21 of-a-point to 181.17, while the Energy Index added 1.16 points to 796.52. ― Bernama
