KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 15 ― Bursa Malaysia continued to trend lower at mid-afternoon, dragged down by persistent selling in selected heavyweight stocks, a dealer said.

Selling in Petronas Chemicals, CIMB and Digi.Com dragged the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) down by a combined 4.01 points.

At 3pm, the benchmark FBM KLCI fell 12.01 points to 1,451.99 compared with 1,464.00 at yesterday’s close.

The market bellwether opened 2.49 points easier at 1,461.51.

On the broader market, decliners led gainers 495 to 287, while 356 counters were unchanged, 1,187 untraded and 13 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 1.90 billion units valued at RM951.87 million.

Of the heavyweights, Maybank and IHH Healthcare gave up four sen each to RM8.55 and RM5.95, respectively, while Public Bank shrank two sen to RM4.36, Petronas Chemicals dropped 11 sen to RM8.61, and CIMB slid eight sen to RM5.41.

Among the actives, Advance Synergy dipped 1.5 sen to 12.5 sen, Top Glove shed one sen to RM1.01, and XOX eased half-a-sen to two sen, while KNM Group gained one sen to six sen and Borneo Oil was flat at two sen.

On the index board, the FBM Emas Shariah Index slipped 71.64 points to 10,448.74, the FBM Emas Index weakened 71.75 points to 10,323.42, the FBMT 100 Index shaved 75.61 points to 10,052.38, the FBM 70 narrowed 62.39 points to 12,303.08, and the FBM ACE inched down 8.68 points to 5,001.35.

Sector-wise, the Financial Services Index contracted 89.29 points to 16,199.63, the Industrial Products and Services Index fell 0.62 of a point to 178.52, and the Energy Index slid 4.75 points to 727.00, while the Plantation Index added by 2.31 points to 6,904.67. ― Bernama
