BENTONG, Nov 9 — The Keluarga Malaysia (Malaysian Family) Digital Economic Centre (PEDi) has produced 33 active youth entrepreneurs in Felda Lurah Bilut.

PEDi is an initiative by the government to, among others, provide various entrepreneurial courses to locals.

Felda Lurah Bilut PEDi chairman Mohammad Izzuddin Hamzah said entrepreneurs in the area can improve their skills through the programmes carried out, such as digital marketing, online sales methods and multimedia courses.

“The implementation of PEDi is very good because it helps locals to promote their products to a wider market and not limited to only nearby areas. When the Movement Control Order was implemented due to Covid-19, the entrepreneurs were still able to sell their products, thus ensuring their income was not badly affected,” he said.

He said this after Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa handed over devices in conjunction with PEDi Family Day with the Community event at Felda Lurah Bilut here today.

To ensure the programme’s success, Mohd Izzuddin said the skills courses were prepared according to the entrepreneurs’ requests, with PEDi also collaborating with various parties to provide suitable training.

PEDi is a government initiative aimed at being a one-stop centre to provide Internet access collectively to the community as well as areas with poor broadband coverage.

Through PEDi, local communities have the chance to follow various ICT-based courses and training, participate in programmes to hone skills in e-commerce, as well as activities that encourage digital creation, dissemination and mastering digital know-how.

Annuar was previously reported to have said that the construction of 177 PEDi had been approved and would be operational next year, with several companies having been shortlisted to tender for the project. — Bernama
