KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 4 ― Bursa Malaysia remained in the positive territory at mid-afternoon amid sustained buying momentum in most heavyweights led by plantation and healthcare counters.

At 3.03pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) went up 15.99 points to 1,436.37 compared with yesterday’s close of 1,420.38.

The market bellwether opened 5.14 points higher at 1,425.52.

On the broader market, gainers led losers 506 to 297, while 341 counters were unchanged, 1,182 untraded and 19 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 1.55 billion units valued at RM920.61 million.

Of the heavyweights, IHH Healthcare rose 9.0 sen to RM6.00, Maybank and Axiata added 8.0 sen each to RM8.49 and RM2.81 respectively, Tenaga Nasional gained 15 sen to RM8.38 and Digi increased 11 sen to RM3.78.

Among the actives, both Citaglobal and Bina Puri were unchanged at 29 sen and 2.5 sen respectively, Top Glove was 4.0 sen higher at 76 sen, Hibiscus Petroleum ticked up 5.0 sen to RM1.04, while NWP fell half-a-sen to 23.5 sen.

On the index board, the FBM Emas Index expanded 97.66 points to 10,201.18, the FBM 70 was 60.18 points firmer at 12,119.89 and the FBMT 100 Index perked up 96.31 points to 9,934.50.

The FBM Emas Shariah Index surged 126.53 points to 10,285.08, while the FBM ACE added 5.34 points to 4,891.77.

Sector-wise, the Financial Services Index gained 71.31 points to 16,126.95, the Industrial Products and Services Index edged up 1.08 points to 173.34, the Plantation Index climbed 76.72 points to 6,793.75 and the Energy Index grew 15.45 points to 723.49. ― Bernama
