KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 13 ― Bursa Malaysia turned lower at mid-morning, weighed down by continuous selling pressure on selected heavyweights, led by the telecommunication stocks.
At 11am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia (FBM KLCI) fell by 2.44 points to 1,378.13 from yesterday's close of 1,380.57.
The benchmark index opened 4.29 points higher at 1,384.86.
On the broader market, losers led gainers 344 to 254, while 300 counters were unchanged, 1,448 untraded and nine others suspended.
Total volume stood at 691.64 million units worth RM429.35 million.
Among the heavyweights, Maybank eased by three sen to RM8.48, Public Bank gave up one sen to RM4.21, Petronas Chemicals lost six sen to RM8.49 and CIMB stayed flat at RM5.30, while IHH Healthcare gained five sen to RM5.59.
Of the actives, Citaglobal inched down half-a-sen to 28 sen, Top Glove added five sen to 68.5 sen, Vinvest and Advance Synergy rose half-a-sen to 19.5 sen and 6.5 sen, respectively, while MYEG gave up 2.5 sen to 85.5 sen.
On the index board, the FBM Emas Index decreased 16.32 points to 9,836.08, the FBM 70 went down 29.54 points to 11,909.82, the FBMT 100 Index depreciated 18.61 points to 9,585.40 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index declined 17.06 points to 9,804.57, while the FBM ACE went up 0.78 of-a-point to 4,632.15.
Sector-wise, the Financial Services Index was 16.23 points lower at 15,907.54, the Industrial Products and Services Index inched up 0.02 of-a-point to 169.26, the Plantation Index declined 29.29 points to 6,335.23, and the Energy Index reduced by 6.85 points to 667.93. ― Bernama
