KUALA LUMPUR, June 22 — Bursa Malaysia retreated from its early gains at mid-morning, dragged down by selected heavyweights, led by MR DIY Group and IHH Healthcare, a dealer said.

The market’s movement was in line with its regional peers, as Singapore’s Straits Times Index declined by 0.59 per cent to 3,099.15, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng eased 1.08 per cent to 21,327.43, South Korea’s KOSPI decreased 1.91 per cent to 2,362.87 and China’s SSE Composite Index reduced 0.35 per cent to 3,295.29.

At 11.01am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) dipped 11.27 points to 1,446.61 from Tuesday’s close of 1,457.88.

The benchmark index had opened 3.25 points firmer at 1,461.13.

On the broader market, losers trumped gainers 436 to 256, while 288 counters were unchanged, 1,295 untraded and 19 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 1.08 billion units worth RM534.06 million.

Among the heavyweights, MR DIY shed six sen to RM1.92, IHH Healthcare slid 10 sen to RM6.39, Maybank lost four sen to RM8.61, Public Bank eased two sen to RM4.45 and CIMB decreased five sen to RM4.91, while Petronas Chemicals added three sen to RM9.53.

Of the actives, SFP Tech and Dagang NeXchange declined 2.5 sen to 67 sen and 77.5 sen, respectively, while Lay Hong gained 4.5 sen to 31.5 sen and Cypark Resources rose 3.5 sen to 45 sen.

On the index board, FBM Emas Index shrank 69.93 points to 10,324.92, FBM Emas Shariah Index shed 76.55 points to 10,491.00, FBM 70 narrowed 49.87 points to 12,502.56, FBM ACE slipped 74.27 points to 4,750.71, and FBMT 100 Index depreciated 63.37 points to 10,061.93.

Sector-wise, the Financial Services Index slumped 102.85 points to 16,056.32, the Industrial Products and Services Index was 0.31 of-a-point lower at 186.05, and the Plantation Index trimmed 52.51 points to 7,062.46. — Bernama
