KUALA TERENGGANU, Sept 15 — The Terengganu government targets the opening of five more T’Mart outlets within three years towards producing more entrepreneurs in retail business in the state.

State Entrepreneurship, Micro Industry and Hawkers’ Affairs Committee chairman, Mohd Nurkhuzaini Ab Rahman said currently, the four mini markets owned by the Terengganu government were located in Kuala Terengganu, Besut, Dungun and Kemaman.

“For the opening of new outlets, we will also choose suitable locations based on demographic studies to meet the market demand and at the same time, sell more products produced by small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Terengganu,” he said when contacted by Bernama today.

Mohd Nurkhuzaini said 68 entrepreneurs had benefited through the T’Marts as they were able to market over 120 products and the number would increase from time to time.

Besides focusing on the T’Marts in Terengganu, he said the state government was also expanding the state’s SME business for the Klang Valley market through T’Mart DC which had been operating in Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur since 2016.

Among the products sold at the T’Marts are frozen food such as satar ikan goreng, kuih ropa, keropok lekor and ketupat palas which are always in demand from lovers of Terengganu’s delicacies.

Meanwhile, Nurkhuzaini said the state government also planned to set up 42 T’Mart Corner (kiosks) within three years for youths and the less fortunate to participate in the business.

“Guided by Yayasan Pembangunan Usahawan Terengganu (Terengganu Entrepreneurship Development Foundation) to run the business, they too could help boost the small and medium industry in the state,” he added. — Bernama
