KUALA LUMPUR, April 3 — Petroliam Nasional Bhd’s (Petronas) first floating liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility, PFLNG SATU, has achieved a milestone with the loading of its first cargo at the Kanowit gas field, offshore Miri, Sarawak on Apr 1, 2017.

In a statement today, Petronas President/Group Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin, said the cargo was fully loaded onto the LNG carrier, Seri Camellia, which was expected to set sail for a South Asian market.

“This accomplishment effectively demonstrates Petronas’ proven technology and capability of adapting a conventionally land-based installation to a floating LNG facility, a game-changer in today’s LNG business landscape.

“It is a testimony of our innovative solutions to meet the demands of our global players,” he said.

Wan Zulkiflee said Petronas continuously employed technology, innovation and collaborative efforts to provide energy solutions at a pace which the industry demanded.

“This successful first cargo milestone further bolsters our reputation as a reliable and leading global LNG player and one-stop LNG solutions provider,” he said.

Petronas said PFLNG SATU, manned by 145 crew, was designed for water-depths of between 70 metres and 200 metres and possesses a processing capacity of 1.2 million tonnes per annum.

“PFLNG SATU complements Petronas’ global LNG portfolio, making it a leader in the FLNG technology and enhancing its reputation as a preferred and reliable LNG supplier,” it said. — Bernama
