KUALA LUMPUR, June 15 — The benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was lower in early trade today following weak buying sentiment.
The FBM KLCI opened at 1,733.28 and fell 2.50 points to 1,731.87 as at 9.10am.
Market breadth was negative with decliners outpacing gainers 122 to 87, while 144 counters were unchanged, 1,460 untraded and 13 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 66.93 million shares worth RM34.16 million.
The FBM Emas Index contracted 17.46 points to 12,005.01, the FBMT100 Index declined 18.55 points to 11,688.49, while the FBM Emas Shariah Index dropped 20.31 points to 12,526.91.
Meanwhile, the FBM 70 dipped 27.32 point to 13,208.76, while the FBM Ace lost 43.80 points to 6,246.91.
On a sectoral basis, the Industrial Index advanced 6.07 points to 3,202.63, the Finance Index added 2.59 points to 15,532.70, while the Plantation Index was down by 23.98 points to 7,342.90.
Among heavyweights, PPB Group fell 32 sen to RM14.98, Hong Leong slipped 12 sen to RM15.20, Sapura Kenchana and Astro slid four sen each to RM2.55 and RM2.99 respectively, while British American Tobacco was up six sen to RM59.90
Actively traded stocks this morning included Asia Media and its warrant(A), Ifca MSC and Salcon. — Bernama
