KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 24 ― Share prices on Bursa Malaysia were slightly higher at mid-morning today on improved investor sentiment with interest confined to selected heavyweights, dealers said.
At 11am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,811.91, advancing 1.23 points and boosted by gains in plantation, trade and service.
The benchmark index was 3.64 points higher at 1,814.32 at the opening bell.
On the scoreboard, the FBM Emas Index rose 26.75 points to 12,596.2, the FBMT100 Index added 20.72 points to 12,224.21, and the FBM Emas Shariah Index rose 39.36 points to 12,944.13.
The FBM 70 increased 70.67 points to 13,895.97 and the FBM Ace gained 62.16 points to 6,276.96.
The Finance Index improved 27.48 points to 16,695.73, and the Plantation Index rose 95.77 points to 8,106.71.But the Industrial Index lost 4.45 points for 3,142.93.
Gainers outpaced decliners 461 to 180, while 260 counters were unchanged, 743 untraded and 20 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 808.24 million shares worth RM529.73 million.
For the active stocks, Malaysian Airline was flat at 25.5 sen, IFCA MSC gained three sen to 53 sen and Sumatec fell half a sen to 33.5 sen.
Among heavyweights, Maybank slipped one sen to RM9.75, Tenaga declined two sen to RM12.84 and Public Bank rose two sen to RM18.64. ― Bernama
