KUALA LUMPUR, May 7 — Share prices on Bursa Malaysia remained weak mid-afternoon as gains were limited by losses in selected heavyweights counters, dealers said.

At 3pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 1.2 points lower at 1,859.23 points after opening 0.94 of a point higher at 1,861.73 points.

Market breadth was negative as losers led gainers 384 to 292, while 289 counters were unchanged, 651 untraded and 17 others were suspended.      

Turnover stood at 971.2 million shares worth RM980.49 million.

On the scoreboard, the Industrial Index was 8.27 points weaker at 3,166.59 points, the Finance Index slipped 10.58 points to 16,939.15 points but the Plantation Index rose 13.9 points to 9,074.42 points.

The FBM Emas Index declined 13.95 points to 12,858.78 points, the FBMT100 Index shed 11.68 points to 12,513.15 points, the FBM 70 erased 27.39 points to 14,004.55 points but the FBM Ace added 18.77 points to 6,513.66 points.

Heavyweights, Maybank and CIMB dipped 2.0 sen each to RM9.79 and RM7.33, respectively, while Public Bank gained 20 sen to RM10.04 and TNB added two sen each to RM19.94.

Among actives, PDZ Holdings and Asia Bioenergy were flat at 16 sen and 8.5 sen, respectively, Nexgram Holdings earned half-a-sen to 12 sen and Symphony House added three sen to 26.5 sen. — Bernama
