KUALA LUMPUR, April 22 — Shares on Bursa Malaysia remained higher at mid-morning today, lifted by gains in heavyweights and blue chips.

As at 11am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 1.19 points better at 1,864.12.

Panasonic Manufacturing Asia, leading the top gainers, soared 32 sen to RM23.10. Cahya Mata and Petronas Dagangan surged 30 sen each to RM10.42 and RM30.50 respectively, and United Plantations advanced 28 sen to RM25.76.

Market breadth was positive, with gainers trouncing losers 354 to 300, while 317 counters were unchanged, 657 untraded and 25 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 991.18 million shares worth RM520.44 million.

On the scoreboard, the Finance Index grew 17.91 points to 17,139.19, the Industrial Index 0.27 point to 3,196.14 and the Plantation Index 9.21 points to 8,936.33.

The FBM Emas Index edged up 12.31 points to 12,948.01, the FBMT100 Index improved 8.62 points to 12,575.37, the FBM 70 gained 12.24 points to 14,189.01 and the FBM Ace advanced 30.04 points to 6,938.56.

Among actives, 1 Utopia and PDZ Holdings added 0.5 sen to 8.5 sen and 16.5 sen respectively while Hovid gained 1.5 sen to 37.5 sen.

Of the heavyweights, Maybank, CIMB and Axiata went up 1.0 sen to RM9.98, RM7.51 and RM6.61 respectively, Public Bank increased 2.0 sen to RM20.22 while TNB remained flat at RM11.90. — Bernama
