KUALA LUMPUR, April 18 ― Bursa Malaysia ended the morning session marginally higher today on lacklustre trading amid closure of most regional stock markets in observance of Good Friday.
At lunch break, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 1.11 points better at 1,851.65. It had opened 1.84 points lower at 1,848.7.
The key index hovered between 1,847.38 and 1,853.02 throughout the session.
On the scoreboard, the Industrial Index shed 0.13 of a point to 3,191.19, the Finance Index eased 12.20 points to 16,937.89 while the Plantation Index gained 26.63 points to 8,939.12.
The FBM 70 rose 6.86 points to 14,145.24, the FBM Ace added 32.74 points to 6,870.32, the FBM Emas Index was 9.43 points higher at 12,865.43, and the FBMT100 Index gained 7.22 points for 12,501.48.
Gainers led losers 379 to 318, while 324 counters were unchanged, 605 untraded and 20 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 1.132 billion shares worth RM799.97 million.
Among actives, 1 Utopia edged up half-a-sen to 8.5 sen, LB Aluminium rose three sen to 78 sen, Iris Corp increased two sen to 50.5 sen, while Asia Bioenergy Tech was flat at 10.5 sen.
As for heavyweights, Public Bank and TNB went up two sen each to RM20 and RM11.90 respectively while Maybank was flat at RM9.83.
CIMB shed two sen to RM7.38 and Sime Darby fell one sen to RM9.29. ― Bernama
