KUALA LUMPUR, March 28 ― Shares on Bursa Malaysia remained lower mid-afternoon, weighed down by selling in heavyweight counters led by BAT which fell 40 sen to RM59.80.

At 3.20 pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) index was 2.64 points easier at 1,844.23.

The loser-to-gainer ratio was 379-to-317, with 304 counters unchanged, 622 untraded and 29 others were suspended.

Turnover stood at 1.26 billion shares worth RM1.16 billion.

On the scoreboard, the Industrial Index lost 1.71 points to 3,192.72, the Finance Index fell 7.459 points to 16,584.98 but the Plantation Index rose 24.091 points to 8,946.11.

The FBM Emas Index decreased 10.681 points to 12,746.6, the FBMT100 Index declined 9.511 points to 12,407.77 but the FBM Ace fell 23.73 points to 6,687.1 and the FBM 70 added 21.74 points to 13,869.73.

Top losers, Danainfra Nasional fell 40 sen each to RM97.60, Telekom slipped 27 sen to RM5.93 and Tenaga dropped 12 sen to RM12.00.

Among actives, Malaysia Airline System lost half-a-sen to 20.5 sen, Green Packet fell four sen to 48 sen and Xidelang gained half-a-sen to 29.5 sen.

As for heavyweights, Maybank was flat at RM9.65, CIMB declined 12 sen to RM7.15 but Axiata rose three sen to RM6.65. ― Bernama
