KUALA LUMPUR, March 12 — The ringgit closed lower against the US dollar today, dealers said.

At 5pm, the ringgit was quoted at 3.2870/2890 against the US dollar from 3.2785/2815 yesterday.

A dealer said worries over the China’s economic health and tensions over Russia’s seizure of the Crimea region of Ukraine kept more investors away from the riskier currencies.

Against other major currencies, the ringgit was traded higher.

The local note depreciated against the yen to 3.1950/1995 from 3.1733/1778 yesterday and eased against the Singapore dollar to 2.5906/5934 from 2.5882/5926 yesterday.

It weakened against the British pound to 5.4601/4660 from 5.4507/4570 yesterday and declined to 4.5536/5580 from 4.5440/5489 versus the euro yesterday. — Bernama
