KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 20 — Share prices on Bursa Malaysia remained in the negative territory at mid-afternoon today, weighed by losses in blue chips, dealers said.

At 3:01 pm, the benchmark FBM KLCI lost 4.04 points to 1,825.41, after moving between 1,824.49 and 1,830.18.

Among the blue chips, Petronas Gas led the losses, losing 40 sen to RM23.10, followed by Guinness Anchor, which shed 30 sen to RM14.90, and Hong Leong Financial shed 18 sen to RM15.82.

On the scoreboard, the Finance Index slipped 0.629 points to 16,570.47, the Plantation Index dipped 90.189 points to 8,721.37, and the Industrial Index slid 20.44 points to 3,103.22.

The FBM Emas fell 26.75 points to 12,641.77, the FBMT100 eased 27.93 points to 12,302.45, the FBM 70 erased 34.01 points to 13,835.2 and the FBM Ace gained 21.34 points to 6,551.15.             

Market breadth was negative as losers outnumbered gainers by 443 to 332, with 309 counters unchanged, 540 untraded and 27 others suspended.    

Turnover amounted to 2.07 billion shares worth RM1.37 billion.  

Among actives, Luster Industries and Hiap Huat added 1.5 sen each to 12 sen and 17.5 sen, respectively, and Tadmax advanced 11.5 sen to 64 sen.

Minetech lost four sen to 23.5 sen and MAS slipped one sen to 28 sen.              

Of the heavyweights, Maybank was flat at RM9.75, while Sime Darby was up one sen to RM9.01.           

TNB eased one sen to RM12 and CIMB and Axiata lost two sen each to RM7.09 and RM6.53, respectively. — Bernama
