KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 28 ― Stocks on Bursa Malaysia remained firm at mid-morning today on continued buying mainly in heavyweight stocks.
At 11am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 8.04 points better at 1,786.92 points after opening 5.22 points higher at 1,784.1 points.
Leading the top gainers list, British American Tobacco surged 82 sen to RM60.92, Petronas Dagangan soared 36 sen to RM30.40 and PPB Group rose 28 sen to RM15.66.
Of the other heavyweights, Maybank added 13 sen to RM9.60, TNM gained 14 sen to RM11.14 while CIMB eased 3.0 sen to RM6.88.
Among actives, Green Packet appreciated 1.0 sen to 46 sen while KNM Group and Astral Supreme increased half-a-sen each to 55 sen and 20.5 sen respectively.
Market breadth was positive as gainers outpaced losers 296 to 192, with 266 counters unchanged, 840 untraded and 29 others suspended.
Turnover totalled 519.32 million shares worth RM457.87 million.
On the scoreboard, the Finance Index rose 58.55 points to 16,292.93 points, the Plantation Index garnered 27.04 points to 8,402.73 points and the Industrial Index was 13.46 points lower at 3,041.6 points.
The FBM Emas Index added 46.8 points to 12,339.75 points, the FBMT100 Index appreciated 46.39 points to 12,061.51 points, the FBM 70 was up 21.78 points to 13,636.17 points while the FBM Ace inched up 41.61 points to 5,805.23 points. ― Bernama
