KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 6 — Shares on Bursa Malaysia remained mixed in mid-morning trade as profit taking continued in heavyweights led by consumer and Petronas-related counters, dealers said.
At 11.05am the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 3.09 points lower at 1,831.65 after opening at 1,835.85.
Consumer stock British American Tobacco lost 62 sen to RM63.26, while Petronas-related counters Petronas Gas slipped 50 sen to RM23.10 and Petronas Dagangan fell 40 sen to RM30.00.
These stocks contributed 2.84 per cent to the decline in the benchmark index.
Market breath was positive as gainers led losers by 342 to 232, with 255 counters unchanged, 718 untraded and 16 others suspended.
Turnover amounted to 576.59 shares valued at RM474.54 million traded.
On the scoreboard, the Finance Index rose 15.42 points to 16,819.52, the Plantation Index increased 7.55 points to 8,834.56 and the Industrial Index was 22.45 points lower at 3,109.54.
The FBM Emas Index lost 5.78 points to 12,672.97, the FBMT100 Index declined 10.91 points to 12,391.81, the FBM Ace garnered 61.47 points to 5,737.99 and the FBM 70 advanced 27.42 points to 14,121.16.
Among actives, Hubline added half a sen to 6.5 sen, Iris increased 1.5 sen to 30.5 sen and MBSB went up four sen to RM2.21.
As for heavyweights, Maybank gained three sen to RM9.94, Tenaga rose two sen to RM11.02 and Axiata was flat at RM6.80. — Bernama
