KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 30 — Shares on Bursa Malaysia turned higher in the mid-morning session, with the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) hitting a new intra-day high of 1,866.72 at 10.54am, up 5.66 points.

The previous intra-day high was recorded on December 27 at 1,862.63.

At 11am, the benchmark index stood at 1,866.1, up 5.04 points, lifted by window dressing in selected key heavyweights and blue chips, dealers said.

Gainers outnumbered losers 282 to 220, with 289 counters unchanged, 770 untraded and 33 suspended.   

Turnover stood at 490.69 million shares worth RM292.16 million.

On the scoreboard, the Finance Index gained 14.799 points to 16.915.7, the Industrial Index added 19.47 points to 3,175.63 and the Plantation Index rose 35.82 points to 8,917.04.

The FBM Emas Index advanced 23.92 points to 12,839.75, while the FBMT100 Index increased 23.27 points to 12,575.59.

The FBM Ace slipped 7.74 points to 5,615.12 and the FBM 70 lost 16.57 points to 14,134.72.

Among actives, The Media Shoppe rose half-a-sen to 7.5 sen, Xidelang-Wa rose two sen to 18.5 sen and Nextnation was flat at half-a-sen.

Of the heavyweights, Maybank rose two sen to RM9.97, Tenaga added 20 sen to RM11.80 and Axiata lost two sen to RM6.88. — Bernama
