KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 20 — Westport Malaysia Sdn Bhd, a port operator in Port Klang, has received the consent from the Public Private Partnership (PPP) Unit in the Prime Minister’s Department to extend the land reclamation and incidental works at the Port Klang container terminal 6 to container terminal 9.
The six-month extension is from January 1, 2014, Westport said in a filing to Bursa Malaysia today.
Westport, which has the right to develop and operate the container port in Port Klang for a 30-year period until August 31, 2024, recently received a concession extension from the Malaysian Government for another 30 years until August 31, 2054, subject to certain conditions.
The conditions are that Westport must complete land reclamation and incidental works in container terminal 6 to container terminal 9 on or before January 1 next year and container terminal 6 has to be fully operational on or before January 1, 2014. — Bernama
