KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 9 — Local medical devices exporters generated sales totalling RM76.9 million at Medica 2013 in Dusseldorf, Germany.
The trade fair, from Nov 20 to 23, 2013, saw a record participation of 42 local exhibitors, displaying a wide-range of products such as medical latex gloves, surgical instruments and condoms, which attracted much interest from buyers.
This year, Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) brought 13 Malaysian companies at the “Malaysia Pavilion”, which introduced their medical products and technologies to the world market.
“About 600 business meetings took place between Malaysian companies and foreign buyers, while Matrade received over 100 trade enquiries.
“Malaysian manufacturers met with top players worldwide, where 80 per cent of the decision-takers present at Medica played a major role in the medical industry and provided expert advice in purchasing decisions,” Matrade said in a statement today.
Malaysia accounted for 48.3 per cent of the German market for latex medical gloves last year, generating export revenues of over RM600 million.
Matrade said it would continue to ensure Malaysia’s presence at Medica and strengthen its position at the world’s leading trade fair for the medical industry. — Bernama
