KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 27 — Shares on Bursa Malaysia remained in negative territory at mid-afternoon with investors locking in profits.

At 3.01pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 3.16 points lower at 1,794.97.

However, losers edged gainers by 431 to 232, with 313 counters unchanged, 617 untraded and 48 others suspended.

Trading amounted to 924.69 million shares worth RM1.06 billion.

A dealer said there was little excitement in the market and investors were waiting for fresh trading leads.

On the scoreboard, the Finance Index decreased 34.39 points to 16,562.26 and the Plantation Index fell 1.45 points to 8,784.92.

The Industrial Index, however, rose 4.29 points to 3,119.44.

The FBM Emas Index was 19.37 points lower at 12,482.5, the FBMT100 Index was down 18.19 points to 12,205.19, the FBM Ace shed 34.34 points to 5,631.44 and the FBM 70 eased 7.77 points to 14,165.15.

The most actively traded stock was newly-listed Titijaya, which was 17 sen or 11.33 per cent higher at RM1.67 at mid-afternoon, with 70.56 million shares traded.

Other actives were AT Systematization, which lost 2.5 sen to 13 sen, while Sumatec remained at 30.5 sen and Daya Materials gained three sen to 38.5 sen.

For heavyweights, Maybank eased one sen to RM9.58, CIMB shed half a sen to RM7.58 and Sime Darby added four sen to RM9.67. — Bernama
