KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 27 — Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd’s Managing Director Datuk Seri Zukri Samat was named “Islamic Banker of the Year 2013” at the Global Islamic Finance Awards 2013 (GIFA) in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, today.
The event was held in conjunction with the Fifth World Islamic Retail Banking Conference in the Emirate.
GIFA, is the first of its kind in Islamic banking and finance. It is held to recognise and celebrate the success and contribution of individuals and institutions in the Islamic financial services industry.
Zukri, in a statement, said the award was not for him alone, but also embraced the teamwork exhibited by the staff of Bank Islam, who have worked very hard to make the institution what it is today.
“This award marks another important milestone for the bank and will further motivate us to keep pushing towards excellence through innovation,” he added. — Bernama
