KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 7 — Shares on Bursa Malaysia turned lower at mid-morning today as cautious sentiment clouded the market ahead of the US economic data release later today, dealers said.

At 11.01am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) eased 2.59 points to 1,800.46.

A dealer said all eyes would be on the US third quarter gross domestic product data release, to gauge the health of the economy.

On the scoreboard, the Finance Index slipped 6.96 points to 16,671.81, the Industrial Index dipped 3.12 points to 3,109.53, and the Plantation Index fell 28.25 points to 8,597.68.

The FBM Emas Index eased 12.85 points to 12,533.14 and the FBMT100 declined 13.85 points to 12,257.65, while the FBM Mid 70 Index fell 0.40 point to 14,288.56 and the FBM Ace Index was 2.42 points lower at 5,798.54.

Losers edged gainers by 289 to 251, with 275 counters unchanged, 774 untraded and 19 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 682.54 million shares worth RM495.77 million.

Among actives, XOX added one sen to 11 sen, Sersol gained three sen to 51.5 sen and TH Heavy Engineering was up 3.5 sen to 90.5 sen while Netx Holdings was unchanged at eight sen and Instacom lost half-a-sen to 17.5 sen.

As for the heavyweights, Petronas Chemicals gave up four sen to RM7.08 and CIMB lost one sen to RM7.55.

Meanwhile, Maybank added one sen to RM9.87 while Axiata and Sime Darby were unchanged at RM6.85 and RM9.50 respectively. — Bernama
