KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 23 — The ringgit opened higher against the US dollar today, which was generally weak due to bearish US jobs data released yesterday, dealers said.

At 9.09am, the ringgit was quoted at 3.1480/1510 vis-a-vis the greenback at 3.1715/1735 yesterday.

Meanwhile, the ringgit was mostly higher against other major currencies.

The local currency rose against the Singapore dollar to 2.5492/5518 from 2.5554/5572 yesterday and appreciated against the yen to 3.2100/2133 from 3.2234/2271 yesterday.  

The domestic unit was slightly higher against the British pound to 5.1120/1182 from yesterday’s 5.1144/1182 but fell against the euro to 4.3379/3427 from 4.3354/3388 yesterday. — Bernama
