KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 10 — Bursa Malaysia extended earlier gains to end the morning session broadly higher, lifted by buying support in bluechips and key heavyweights, dealers said.

At mid-day, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 5.5 points better at 1,774.62, after fluctuating between 1,775.35 and 1,768.64 throughout the morning session.

Hong Leong Bank, the largest contributor to the rise with 1.22 points, saw its share soar 2.61 per cent or 36 sen to RM14.18, with 27,000 lots changing hands.

“The local market rebounded from recent losses on recovered sentiment globally on the back of positive external news,” said a dealer. – Bernama
