KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 3 — Shares on Bursa Malaysia turned slightly higher at mid-morning today, led by gains in selected heavyweights, dealers said.
At 11am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) gained 0.29 of a point to 1,772.6, after opening 0.33 of a point lower at 1,770.02.
British American Tobacco rose 98 sen to RM63.48, Public Bank added 10 sen to RM17.82, and Petronas Dagangan gained 20 sen to RM29.20.
On the scoreboard, the Finance Index decreased 14.95 points to 16,414.43, and the Plantation Index fell 20.79 points to 8,333.5, but the Industrial Index added 5.26 points to 3,0436.66.
The FBM Emas Index declined 1.06 points to 12,314.78, the FBM100 Index decreased 2.47 points to 12,051.13, the FBM 70 lost 21.23 points to 14,033.38 and the FBM ACE slid 4.85 points to 5,480.95.
Advancers led decliners 255 to 235, with 290 counters unchanged, 823 untraded and 14 others suspended.
Volume stood at 650.99 million shares worth RM334.84 million.
Among actives, Karambunai-ORD lost one sen to 5.5 sen, The Media Shoppe added half-a-sen to 17.5 sen, and Asia Bioenergy fell half-a-sen to 14.5 sen.
Of the heavyweights, Maybank improved one sen to RM9.82, Axiata was flat at RM6.90, and Sime Darby fell one sen to RM9.50. – Bernama
