KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 30 — Shares on Bursa Malaysia remained lower at mid-morning today, led by losses in selected heavyweights, dealers said.

At 11am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) fell 11.52 points to 1,764.64, after opening 0.88 of a point lower at 1,775.28.

CIMB and Axiata lost six sen each to RM7.58 and RM6.83, respectively, while Petronas Gas declined 40 sen to RM21.60.

On the scoreboard, the Finance Index gave up 96.61 points to 16,481, the Industrial Index lost 27.16 points to 3,007.15, and the Plantation Index declined 27.52 points to 8,291.22.

The FBM Emas Index lost 71.49 points to 12,277.81, the FBM100 Index decreased 68.36 points to 12,015.07, the FBM Ace fell 42.2 points to 5,528.97 and the FBM70 slid 38.37 points to 14,010.86.

Decliners led advancers 409 to 132, with 232 counters unchanged, 820 untraded and 26 others suspended.

Volume stood at 689.78 million shares worth RM365.37 million.

Among actives, Silver Bird fell 2.5 sen to 13.5 sen, The Media Shoppe was flat at 18.5 sen and DVM Technologies lost half-a-sen to seven sen.

Among heavyweights, Maybank rose one sen to RM9.87, while Sime Darby was five sen lower at RM9.44 and Petronas Chemicals added three sen to RM6.83. – Bernama
