KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 29 — Share prices on Bursa Malaysia continued their upward trend at mid-morning, rebounding from recent losses, dealers said.

At 11.10am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,700.71, up 14.54 points after opening 0.66 points easier at 1,685.51.

On Bursa Malaysia, the Finance Index added 164.6 points to 15,951.06, the Plantation Index rose 37.56 points to 8,086.64 and the Industrial Index was firmer by 24.08 points at 2,853.09.

The FBM Emas Index appreciated 115.84 points to 11,779.95, the FBM100 Index edged up 110.03 points to 11,542.9 and the FBM 70 Index increased 173.8 points to 13,308.28.

Gainers thumped losers 494 to 117, while 230 counters were unchanged, 740 untraded and 27 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 836.51 million shares worth RM588.970 million.  

Among actives, Compugates Holdings declined half a sen to 6.0 sen, The Media Shoppe added one sen to 95 sen and Malaysia Airlines went up one sen to 32 sen.

Of the heavyweights, Maybank added two sen to RM9.90, Axiata appreciated 11 sen to RM6.71 and Sime Darby firmed seven sen to RM9.39. – Bernama
