KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 27 — Share prices on Bursa Malaysia ended lower at the end of the morning session today, dragged by losses in heavyweights, including Petronas-linked stocks. 

At lunch break, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) fell 16.69 points or 0.96 per cent to 1,705.8 after fluctuating between 1,702.6 and 1,719.03 throughout the session.

On scoreboard, the Finance Index lost 194.63 points to 16,005.44, the Industrial Index was down 48.57 points to 2,866.73, and the Plantation Index fell 70.36 points to 8,115.51.    

The FBM Emas Index dropped 153.57 points to 11,817.09, the FBMT100 was 131.65 points lower at 11,582.81, the FBM 70 Index decreased 227.96 points to 13,376.42 and the FBM ACE Index fell 241.76 points to 4,981.25.                   

Decliners overwhelmed advancers 930 to 45, with 134 counters unchanged, 471 untraded and 22 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 1.336 billion shares worth RM1.154 billion.                    

Among actives, MAS fell one sen to 31.5 sen, The Media Shoppe edged down half-a-sen to 8.5 sen and Flonic Hi-Tec eased 1.5 sen to 12.5 sen.            

For heavyweights, TNB added one sen to RM8.66 while Digi was flat at RM4.67.        

SapuraKencana Petroleum lost 20 sen to RM3.31, Petronas Chemicals declined six sen to RM6.43, Petronas Gas dropped 40 sen to RM19.36 and Petronas Dagangan went down 64 sen to RM26.50. – Bernama
