KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 19 — Share prices on Bursa Malaysia ended the morning session lower today on lack of buying momentum.

At the lunch break, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) shed 2.87 points to 1,785.37, with the market barometer moving between 1,771.65 and 1,788.43.

On the scoreboard, the Finance Index lost 40.87 points to 17,004.94, the Plantation Index eased 31.33 points to 8,287.4, but the Industrial Index gained 3.36 points to 3,018.26.

The FBM Emas Index dwindled 9.39 points to 12,467.96, and the FBMT100 was 11.39 points lower to 12,189.57, with the FBM ACE Index chalking up 56.8 points to 5,540.59, and the FBM 70 Index improving 20.33 points to 14,352.38.   

Losers led gainers 379 to 321, with 278 counters unchanged, 603 untraded and 11 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 1.922 billion shares worth RM1.106 billion.   

Among actives, MAS gained 5.5 sen to 38.5 sen, The Media Shoppe edged up half-a-sen to 11 sen and Instacom Group increased one sen to 43 sen. 

For heavyweights, Maybank and Maxis added four sen to RM10.52 and RM7.25, respectively, CIMB fell seven sen to RM7.97, Axiata was one sen lower at RM6.90 while Sime Darby was flat at RM9.50. — Bernama
