KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 6 — Share prices on Bursa Malaysia ended the morning session lower today with the local bourse pressured by selling activities, dealers said.
At lunch break, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) fell 4.54 points to end the session at 1,780.6, with the benchmark index moving throughout between 1,779.47 and 1,782.87.
Regionally, the Shanghai Composite eased 3.37 points to 2,047.11, and Singapore’s Straits Times declined 23.42 points to 3,218.37, while Japan’s Nikkei 225 gained 34.14 points to 14,292.18.
Back home, the Finance Index fell 40.43 points to 16,898.33, with the Industrial Index easing 5.6 points to 3,014.51, but the Plantation Index added 0.49 of a point to 8,341.13.
The FBM Emas Index shed 18.75 points to 12,410.42, the FBMT100 was down 20.57 points to 12,152.47, and the FBM ACE Index declined 2.58 points to 5,123.85, with the FBM 70 Index improving 18.85 points to 14,290.1.
Losers led gainers 324 to 277, with 294 counters unchanged, 679 untraded and 11 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 665.553 million shares worth RM781.155 million.
Among actives, Instacom Group edged up one sen to 36.5 sen, with Faber Group surging 54 sen to RM2.34, while Daya Materials and Iris Corp eased one sen each to 32 sen and 22.5 sen.
For the heavyweights, CIMB rose three sen to RM7.88 and Axiata gained two sen to RM6.86.
Maybank, Sime Darby and Maxis were flat at RM10.40, RM9.50 and RM7.08 respectively. – Bernama
