KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 6 — Share prices on Bursa Malaysia stayed easier at mid-morning today in lacklustre trade, as investors shunned the session in the holiday-shortened week, a dealer said.       

At 11.05am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was at 1,780.34, easing 4.80 points, after opening 4.65 points lower at 1,780.49.           

The market will be open for the morning session only on Aug 7 and closed on Aug 8-9 for Hari Raya Aidilfitri.          

The FBM Emas Index slipped 24.59 points to 12,404.58, the FBMT100 Index fell 26.74 points to 12,146.3, the FBM Ace Index shed 10.88 points to 5,115.55, and the FBM70 Index slid 6.64 points to 14,264.6.          

The Finance Index fell 28.11 points to 16,910.65 and the Industrial Index was 12.09 points lower at 3,008.02, while the Plantation Index was slightly higher by 0.43 of a point to 8,341.07.

Losers edged gainers 266 to 234, with 282 counters unchanged, 792 untraded and 11 others suspended. 

Volume stood at 484.773 million shares valued at RM456.990 million.   

Among actives, Faber Group surged 54 sen to RM2.34, while UEM Sunrise added four sen to RM2.78, and The Media Shoppe and Flonic Hi-Tec slid half-a-sen to eight sen and 15 sen respectively.    

Of the heavyweights, Maybank was two sen higher at RM10.42, CIMB rose four sen to RM7.89 and Axiata was flat at RM6.84. – Bernama
