KUALA LUMPUR, July 31 — Share prices on Bursa Malaysia remained low at mid-morning today, with losses seen in index-linked banking stocks and selected heavyweights, dealers said.
At 11.01am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) fell 20.44 points or 1.13 per cent to 1,774.64, after moving between 1,773.29 and 1,791.71.
Maybank lost 26 sen to RM10.30, CIMB shed 18 sen to RM7.97 while SapuraKencana Petroleum declined 12 sen to RM3.90 and MISC went down 19 sen to RM5.42.
On the scoreboard, the Finance index dropped 305.98 points to 16,829.45, the Plantation index fell 66.53 points to 8,312.27 and the Industrial index contracted 24.49 points to 3,022.29.
The FBM Emas Index shed 155.65 points to 12,348.06, the FBMT 100 Index lost 149.80 points to 12,100.46, the FBM ACE Index slipped 43.76 points to 5,003.49 and the FBM 70 Index declined 218.60 points to 14,182.07.
In terms of market breadth, the gainer-to-loser ratio was 83 to 631, with 195 counters unchanged, 690 untraded and 43 others suspended.
Market volume traded was 708.940 million shares valued at RM818.09 million.
Among actives, Tiger Synergy was flat at 22.5 sen while Malaysia Airlines inched down half-a-sen to 30.5 sen, UEM Sunrise went down 14 sen to RM2.72 and TH Engineering eased two sen to 83 sen.
Of heavyweights, Hong Leong Bank dipped 32 sen to RM13.86, TNB shed 10 sen to RM8.90 and RHB Capital declined 20 sen to RM8.36. — Bernama
