KUALA LUMPUR, July 24 — Bursa Malaysia was higher at mid-afternoon today, lifted by gains in the index-linked companies on rising inflow of foreign funds into the market, dealers said.
At 3.12pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,809.06, up 3.75 points from yesterday’s close of 1,805.31.
The barometer index fluctuated between 1,804.23 and 1,810.6.
The Finance Index chalked up 34.87 points to 17,396.79 and the Industrial Index increased 5.42 points to 3,071.07.
The Plantation Index, however, slipped 4.33 points to 8,430.2.
The FBM Emas Index rose 22.87 points to 12,612.75, FBMT100 Index improved 23.91 points to 12,350.98, FBM 70 Index was up 21.16 points to 14,540.83 and the FBM ACE Index expanded 47.2 points to 5,049.18.
Losers outnumbered gainers by 378 to 306, with 325 counters unchanged,
587 untraded and 14 others were suspended.
Turnover amounted at 949.522 million shares worth RM1.004 billion.
Among actives, Flonic Hi-Tec earned two sen to 13.5 sen, Trinity Corp added one sen to 6.5 sen and Kinsteel gained 3.5 sen to 31 sen.
Of the heavyweights, Sime Darby rose one sen to RM9.55 while both Maybank and CIMB were flat at RM10.72 and RM8.52, respectively.
Axiata Group fell one sen to RM6.82. – Bernama
