KUALA LUMPUR, July 23 — Bursa Malaysia was higher mid-afternoon lifted by gains in blue-chips and key heavyweights, dealers said.
At 3.01pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,802.76, up 5.08 points from yesterday’s close of 1,797.68.
The barometer index fluctuated between 1,801.83 and 1,807.31 since trading resumed this morning until 3.01 pm.
The Finance Index surged 75.28 points to 17,329.55, Industrial Index increased 16.29 points to 3,058.55 and the Plantation Index gained 12.49 points to 8,419.65.
The FBM Emas Index advanced 31.59 points to 12,568.93, the FBMT100 Index improved 34.02 points to 12,305.85, the FBM 70 Index rose 37.42 points to 14,479.14 and the FBM ACE Index earned 3.05 points to 4,998.84.
Gainers led losers 340 to 336, with 313 counters unchanged, 599 untraded and 14 others were suspended.
Turnover amounted at 819.127 million shares worth RM1.162 billion.
Among actives, Sersol rose nine sen to 43.5 sen, Tiger Synergy perked half-a-sen to 23 sen while Flonic Hi-Tec was flat at 11 sen.
Newly-listed ABM Fujiya was traded four sen higher at 64 sen with 23.794 million shares exchanging hands.
For heavyweights, Maybank advanced six sen to RM10.72, CIMB gained three sen to RM8.51, Maxis was two sen better at RM7.07 and Sime Darby added one sen to RM9.51.
