KUALA LUMPUR, July 18 — Share prices on Bursa Malaysia remained higher mid-morning on continuous buying interest, especially in selected heavyweights, dealers said.
At 11 am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 2.72 points better at 1,791.38 after opening 1.67 points lower at 1,786.99.
Market breadth was positive, with 347 gainers, 215 losers, 281 counters were unchanged, 742 untraded and 24 others were suspended.
Turnover stood at 645.359 million shares worth RM694.739 million.
The Finance Index rose 11.68 points to 17,153.74, the Industrial Index added 8.16 points to 3,040.18 while the Plantation Index fell 15.479 points to 8,421.54. The FBM Emas Index increased 30 points to 12,509.76, FBM 70 Index rose 63.5 points to 14,442.38, FBMT 100 Index gained 26.46 points to 12,238.56 and the FBM ACE Index increased 19.17 points to 4,889.02.
Among actives, CLIQ Energy-WA rose two sen to 50 sen, Sumatec Resources added four sen to 32 sen and Malaysian Airline gained half-a-sen to 31 sen.
Of heavyweights, Maybank improved two sen to RM10.52 while CIMB and Axiata both gained one sen each to RM8.43 and RM6.78 respectively. — Bernama
