KUALA LUMPUR, July 12 — Share prices on Bursa Malaysia were higher at mid-afternoon today on active buying in consumer stocks despite losses in selected blue-chips, dealers said.
At 3pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose 1.99 points to 1,783.14, after opening 3.85 points better at 1,785.0.
Market breadth was positive, with 334 gainers and 284 losers, while 311 counters were unchanged, 647 untraded and 16 suspended.
Turnover stood at 744.48 million shares worth RM860.53 million.
The Plantation Index rose 56.26 points to 8,486.97 and the Industrial Index gained 6.27 points to 3,010.99.
The Finance Index fell 0.459 point to 16,965.91 and the FBM Emas Index garnered 17.83 points to 12,408.92.
The FBM 70 Index rose 31.69 points to 14,227.44 and the FBM ACE Index slipped 2.96 points to 4,760.92.
Among actives, TH Heavy Engineering gained seven sen to 85.5 sen, Luster rose half sen to 10.5 sen and Pantech added four sen to RM1.04.
In heavyweights, Maybank fell four sen to RM10.40 while CIMB added one sen to RM8.29 and Axiata rose two sen to RM6.82. — Bernama
