KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 20 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has welcomed efforts to strengthen the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Centre of Excellence in Kuala Lumpur, positioning it as a hub for the sharing of knowledge and expertise.
He noted that Malaysia is recognised for its experience in empowering micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), strengthening economic resilience, and generating employment opportunities, expertise and experience that could potentially benefit other IsDB member countries.
“I also emphasised Malaysia’s readiness to share its expertise and expand development cooperation at the international level,” he said in a post on X today.
He mentioned that this was discussed during a meeting today with IsDB president Dr. Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasser, reflecting a continued confidence in the nation’s development trajectory and governance.
“God willing, this close collaboration will further enhance Malaysia’s role as a credible development partner, while bringing the expertise of our people to the global stage,” he added.
The IsDB Centre of Excellence in Kuala Lumpur, launched in 2019, serves as a strategic platform for the transfer of technology, expertise, and best practices in Islamic finance from Malaysia to the 56 other IsDB member countries.
The IsDB, headquartered in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, is a multilateral development finance institution established in 1975 to support the economic development and social progress of its member countries and Muslim communities worldwide, based on Shariah principles. — Bernama
